What is Detachment ? Why is it important to let go ?

Hello Divine Sparks,
I’m back, and eager to talk to you about this subject that is so profound and critical to our lives.
What is detachment? Life has gradually taught me that the key to inner harmony, and strength to overcome its obstacles lies in the ability to separate from what no longer serves a purpose. Even if what we are releasing may be of our affections and pleasures. Detachment is therefore a way of renewing oneself, of reinventing oneself, is the effective way of reorganising our mental and emotional home, in short, our life.
The process of detachment is of self-liberation, and will become, over time, the resources necessary for our personal growth. Thus, strengthening the fibres of our soul. Everything we cling to, enslaves us, creating a certain dependence. Sometimes too subtle to be recognised. It is a must to let go of what no longer belongs to our path, which no longer elevates our being to new levels of oneself. That of what stagnates in our lives becomes obstacles to our evolution. They are like old paradigms, losing their relevance to the present moment, consequently depreciating us as well.
We need to drain from ourselves the need to own, control, and hold things and people by our side. All that in fact weakens our power of overcoming and self-assertion. Or it will involve us in the illusions of emotional deprivation, and material needs to fill an existential void. It is also fundamental to realise that love is above all, to give and to have freedom. You have to let go, in order to create space for the new to arrive.
I once read in a Brazilian article, a psychologist claiming that “Clinging people can have various problems, such as anxiety, phobia, depression, or experiencing the eternal fear of losing, and being unable to cope with the loss. Attachment makes us very dependent on things, but when we accept that nothing is eternal and permanent, we learn to enjoy more and have a better life.”
Given my own experience, which this was one of the factors that led me to depression (I described more deeply in my book- Detachments), I am living proof of the above phrase. But I will write more about this next week in a new post, where I will be talking about my experience with depression, and what led me to it.
There is a sentence at the end of my book, which summarises the “why”, why it is so important to learn to detach:
“If you allow your feelings to cling to things or people, you will always be vulnerable to their vulnerabilities”
Dear ones, let me know how hard it is for you to detach yourself? I’d love to hear your thoughts. So, reflect on this post, and have a very blessed week.
Love and Peace for all,
Jacqueline Sewell

J. Sewell

About Me !

Hello, Divine sparks,
My name is Jacqueline Sewell, aka Jacky Sewell. I am excited to be here, and talk to you through this blog. I always wanted to share my life story with the world. It took a long time to take courage and literally cross the timeline of my life, facing the camouflaged pains of the past, reliving each episode as a powerful and liberating catharsis.
What really pushed me to start writing my book "Detachments_If it is not by Loving, It will be by Hurting" ? It was the realisation that through every episode of my life, there have always been the main lessons of detachment, screaming loudly in my deaf ears.
Between 2011 and 2014, everything that had to go wrong, in all possible areas (relationship, professional, health, spiritual), went wrong. Ironically, it was during this time, when I was in deep depression, that I felt compelled to write my story. Initially as a form of self-therapy, then I realised that while I faced so many challenges on my own, which for many would be a door to suicide, there was something that never let me give up life, and to believe in better days. In spite of all traumatic events, I also managed to get out of them wiser, fearless, positive and with a sense of duty to humanity.
I also believe that this book is relevant to today’s chaotic society. Where most are chasing the ‘have’, and little is said about ‘being’. Unfortunately, this is clearly confirmed to us, through its effects, in a unhappy generation, which has become consumerist, materialistic, separatist and, irrespective of its social level, unleashed the great evil of the century: “Depression”.
You may ask, what is the difference of this book from others with similar subject, and I say: Each book is unique, because each soul is a unique soul with different points of view, and with diverse experiences. However, we may all go through difficulties in life, but no one will face them, nor overcome them in exactly the same manner.
You will find in my story that the lessons of letting go are evident in all the experiences described, but most of all, of going through the trials of life with courage, faith, and resignation. Always, taking the positive out of a negative situation.
As the subtitle suggests, if you do not learn from love, life will teach you in difficult and repetitive ways until you do.
I wanted to share this with the world and who knows, to help someone who identifies with my story, giving them some hope and strength to continue advancing with their own timeline. I hope you enjoy each chapter, and discover in them some inspiration that makes you see that every event in your life matters.
In the course of the next few weeks, I will write here on the blog more about some of the various subjects I mentioned in my book, such as: what is detachment, my experience with depression, detaching from relationships, and others.
My main message, dear ones, is that life sometimes tends to send storms, in order to clear the pollution caused by our unhealed emotions. Thus, the trials of life are indeed, blessings in disguise. The old man dies, to raise the new one, just like a phoenix.
I would love to hear from you, and if you’ve read my book, tell me your thoughts, which chapter touched you the most. Have a blessed week.
Love and peace for all!

O que realmente me empurrou para começar a escrever meu livro "Detachments_If it is not by Loving, It will be by Hurting" (Desapegos_Se não for por amor, será pela dor)?

J.Sewell

Emotional Immature !

While emotionally immature, the human being dreams awake, careless of the importance of his actions. He expect the universe to bring the desired, without any effort on his part. Directing life at random, with no goals, he gradually becomes bitter and hopeless, especially when the events and circumstances have not succumbed to his most intimate yearnings.

He loses opportunities amidst daydreams, which never materialize, thus closing himself to life, gradually nourishing a certain melancholy, anguish, an emptiness, a lack of self-love and of direction.

Fragile as rose petals, unaware of the reason for his thorns, he cuts his stems from the world and live in a solitary vase, where water will one day evaporate. Summing up his existence in the hands of a sensitive soul, who may come to save him from himself. This is the sad portrait and awakening of those who wait without creating anything.

Their beauty becomes ephemeral, and their passions fleeting before the beauty of those who work in fraternity, of those who toil without complaining, of those who suffer without being victimized, of those who believe without doubting, those who sway without falling, of those who lose without fading, and of those who love without safeguarding!

Imaturo Emocional !

" DETACHMENTS _ If it is not by Loving It will be by Hurting "

Hello all the lovely people who honours my blog with their presence. I am so happy to announce that my book "DETACHMENTS-If it is not by Loving,It will be by Hurting" has been published by Balboa Press

Book Synopsis:
"Detachments" is an autobiography, where the author shares important and impactful stories of her life, where she learned the lessons of Detachment - a search for self. Originally written as a form of self-therapy, due to a phase of depression. However, according to the unfolding of the stories, the author realised that by reliving her deeper wounds, (such as a very traumatic event she witnessed in her early childhood), each wound was being healed one by one. This has helped drain the negative energies of the emotions that were attached to these events. In each chapter, the author understood that, from an early age, life had made her go through so many terrible but important events to teach the difficult task of letting go. Her faith also gave strength to overcome all this, and to become a much stronger and wiser person, and with a sense of duty to humanity. That's when the idea of creating her blog came to life. The message that is clear in the book is that life sometimes tends to send storms in order to clear the pollution caused by our unhealed emotions. Thus, the trials of life are indeed, disguised blessings, that will shape our soul to a far better version of ourselves. The book is, in fact, a journey of self-knowledge where the lesson of detachment is evident, but above all, to cross the difficulties of life with courage and resignation, always taking the positive side of a negative situation. As the subtitle suggests, if we do not learn from love, life will teach us in harsh and repetitive ways until we learn.

“When facing some kind of suffering...the tumult of changes come to restructure our most intimate creations, forcing us to move into a new direction that will show the path of self-awakening.”
